Program AKA (also known as): Rainbow Playgroup
Program Description: Sandboxes to Empowerment Playgroups are free, bilingual drop-in parent-child playgroups for young children, 0 to 5, and their care providers. These groups are a collaboration between Oakland Parks, Recreation, and Youth Development and MOCHA. They offer fun, age appropriate activities aimed at developing social skills, literacy, creativity, motor skills, and other areas necessary for success in and out of the classroom. Field trips, parent education, snacks, and art workshops provided.
General Comments: These groups take place twice weekly at 3 locations in Oakland: Mosswood Recreation Center, Rainbow Recreation Center, Carmen Flores Recreation Center. These groups are made possible through funding from Oakland Fund for Children and Youth.
