Livermore – Park After Dark: Traps & Night Blooms
The Livermore Public Library and LARPD are inviting families to explore nighttime wildlife and plants during an evening nature program. Participants will help set up insect light traps and take a guided evening walk along Dry Creek while learning about moths and nighttime-blooming plants. The program is open to all ages and includes approximately one-mile walks through the park after sunset. Registration is required for this program. Oakland – Mesoamerican Makers: Painting with Nature
Oakland Public Library and The Lawrence Hall of Science is hosting a series of hands-on learning through science and art. The program invites families to explore how people in Mesoamerica used natural materials to create colorful art and tell stories. Children and caregivers will learn how the cochineal bug and local plants were used to make paints and dyes for murals, clothing, and codices before creating artwork inspired by these traditional traditions and natural pigments.
