Parenting and Family Support
Being a parent isn’t easy. Parenting and family supports are opportunities to meet and share with other parents, discover ways to manage childhood challenges, and learn something new. Parenting and family supports are also opportunities to get help in times of need.
Programs are designed for all kinds of families. There are programs for families of different cultures and ethnicities. There are programs for young parents. There are programs for parents with disabilities. There are programs for fathers – see Fatherhood initiatives. There are programs for families dealing with substance abuse issues.
There are a lot of ways parents and family supports can help
- As a parent of a child with a disability, you might want talk and listen to other parents who have children with disabilities
- As a parent of four year old, you might want to learn about school readiness
- As a foster parent, respite services might offer you a much needed break
- As a LGBTQ family, you may want to meet other families like yours
