Oakland – Mesoamerican Makers: Painting with Nature
Oakland Public Library and The Lawrence Hall of Science is hosting a series of hands-on learning through science and art.
The program invites families to explore how people in Mesoamerica used natural materials to create colorful art and tell stories. Children and caregivers will learn how the cochineal bug and local plants were used to make paints and dyes for murals, clothing, and codices before creating artwork inspired by these traditional traditions and natural pigments.
