Prevention and Early Intervention
Program Last Updated: 10/25/2024
Program AKA (also known as): PEI
Program Description: A Better Way’s PEI program is designed to provide early intervention support services to children and families in Alameda County through brief assessment and referral services, connection to local resources, mental health consultation, education, and training for families and community partners that interact with the early childhood system. Families in our program will work with a Mental Health Specialist and Family Partner who will assess for family-centered goals, screen children for developmental and mental health challenges, and refer and connect families to needed resources. Additionally, families will be offered parenting support and education through group classes (e.g., Circle of Security Parenting program), through topic-specific trainings (e.g., ADHD, trauma, co-parenting), and through peer-led support groups. The PEI program also works to strengthen the network of community partners providing early intervention and prevention services in Alameda County by developing a more robust referral network between programs and specialties in the early childhood field, and by offering training and consultation to programs interacting with young children and their families.
