Program Description: Early Childhood Special Education services are for children ages 3 to 5 and are provided through Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Services are available to children with eligible disabilities and/or delays. They are designed to meet the specific educational needs of each child and are based on an Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Preschool children, ages 3 to 5 years old, may qualify for special education services if they have an "established medical disability." An "established medical disability" is a disabling medical condition or congenital syndrome very likely to require special education services.
