Program Description: The Black Infant Health Program (BIH) is designed to empower and support pregnant and parenting African-American women. As part of their efforts to reduce infant mortality and preterm labor in the African American community, BIH provides social support and empowerment in a group setting through intensive case management. BIH participants attend weekly group sessions (10 prenatal and 10 postpartum) designed to help them access their own strengths and set health promoting goals for themselves and their babies. Women can self- refer or be referred by their provider. You can reach Shamelle Bremond by phone at 510-618-2019 or by email at Shamelle.Bremond@acgov.org.
General Comments: BIH is a free and voluntary program that provides education, resources, referrals, case management, incentives, bus transportation, food, and lots of love. Participants receive a gift card upon enrollment ,and a $10 gift card for enrolling a friend. Call (510) 618-1967 for current group schedule.
