Alameda County Quality Counts is enrolling licensed Family Child Care programs!

Alameda County Quality Counts (QC), the local Quality Rating and Improvement System, is accepting applications from licensed Family Child Care (FCC). QC supports caregivers and early care and education professionals to provide quality learning services and environments for children birth to five years.
Alameda County Quality Counts is part of Quality Counts California, a statewide effort to strengthen California’s early learning and care system to support young children and their families. For more information on the statewide efforts, please visit: https://qualitycountsca.net/

Program Options

Alameda County Quality Counts is offering two Quality Improvement options for providers:

Option 1: Coaching for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) cohort:

Quality Improvement Supports:

  • Receive coaching services
  • Participate in a Professional Learning Community
  • Access to professional development, such as training and workshops
  • Access to financial incentives to support quality improvement

Commitments:

  • Agree to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which outlines program requirements, including:
    • Attend a QC orientation
    • Provide proof of a minimum of $300,000 general liability insurance for duration of participation
    • Report, annually, information on your program and the children served
    • Participation in quality improvement activities
  • Develop a Quality Improvement Plan with your QC Coach that specifies goals and strategies for achieving  goals
  • Commit to a mid-year and annual evaluation of the progress made on the QIP goals and strategies.
  • Participate in to 2 – 3 quality improvement activities per month. This may include:
    • Attending the Professional Learning Community meetings;
    • Participating in a training/workshop;
    • Completing an online training module; or
    • Participating in an individual meeting with a QC Coach

Option 2: Early Identification Support:

Quality Improvement Supports:

  • Work with an Inclusion and Developmental Screening coach to increase early identification of children’s developmental needs
  • Learn about First 5’s Help Me Grow program services
  • Access to professional development, such as training and workshops
  • Participants are eligible to receive incentives and materials
  • Ongoing technical assistance and support as needed

Commitments:

  • Develop a focused Quality Improvement Plan that describes strategies to meet early identification goal(s)
  • Participate in 3 – 4 activities per year

Who is eligible to apply:

All Licensed Family Child Care programs who are:

  • Operating in Alameda County and
  • Currently serving children birth to 5-years-old and
  • In good standing with Community Care Licensing

Please note that space is limited. If we receive more applications than spaces available, we will score  applications based on the following priorities listed below. For example, an applicant would receive a point for each priority area they fulfill. Those with a higher score will have a higher priority.   • FCCs in defined priority zip code areas:
    • 94501, 94536, 94541, 94544, 94546, 94550, 94551, 94560, 94566, 94568, 94577, 94578, 94580, 94587, 94588, 94601, 94603, 94605, 94606, 94607, 94608, 94619, 94621, 94702
  • Serving infants/toddlers
  • Serving dual language learners
  • Serving children with special needs
  • Serving children experiencing homelessness
  • Serving children in foster care
  • Serving or committed to serving children with a subsidy or payment voucher
  • FCCs offering weekend OR overnight care
  • Language capacity may be prioritized depending on the language demands of families in the area and other FCC participants currently in QC.
